Great way to enf 2010

Had an unexpected chance to end 2010 on a positive note. 14 new Blackrattle caches on the section of RTTs he is developeing got posted after dinner. Vic wanted to goto town for some errands and she surprised me by saying that when we get back from town why don't you take off after the caches. Goto love a woman who supports my hobby so well. Got on the trail around 3:30 and had a decision to make. From where i parked there were 12 caches in 1 dirrection and 2 in the other. Went in the direction of the 12 caches and got FTF on all 12, YAHOOOO!!!!!
By the time i got back to the truck it was getting too dark to do the other 2 so i will leave them for another day. Had a great 2.5 mile hike in the process.
What a great way to end 2010.

Spreading Some Sunshine

Well, I spent four or five hours out caching with Claire of Acadian Cachers today. She and Barry are going through a bit of a rough time right now with Barry's Dad being hospitalized and she wanted some company on the hunt today.

Claire was only seven short of 500 when we left her house around noon.

We started out at a cache near Kingston which a friend of hers has placed recently. We got to GZ and searched and searched and searched. There were all kinds of great places to hide a cache but no cache to be found. We called it and headed on to our intended destination, Bridgetown and surrounding area. (Claire contacted the CO late this afternoon after I dropped her back home and apparently the cache is right at the side of the road - and likely now covered by snow plowed off the road.)

So, we get to Bridgetown and I decide to gas up in case Claire gets a call to head to the hospital. Such a call never came, but I wanted to be prepared. We found our first cache at the ESSO station by the Highway 101 exit at around 1:00 PM. We had some snow issues on some of the R2T trails, I was surprised how much snow there was in some areas in the woods down that way.

Anyway, we got Claire her 500th at GC1B6TK. In fact, I just booted a couple of pics of her at the cache site to my log - and then we did two more. Then she says "Would you be angry if I said I want to stop now?" Of course not! So we headed for home about 3:30 PM.

Claire is now at 502 and we had an enjoyable few hours together. I hope I managed to spread a little sunshine for her this afternoon!

Breakfast Event

Attended a breakfast event at Arby's in Bridgewater this morning put on by escaperr. Had a great time and realized i had met all but one of the 35 people in attendance before. A year ago when i went to events i only knew a few people there now i know everybody by name, pretty nice group of people to be associated with.
There were 26 new caches put out for the event, they weren't published before the event but we were given a list of caches with co-rds to work from. I didn't have time to do the caches as i had to get home and get ready to leave for Hantsport to visit our daughter. Looking at the list of co-rds i realized that one of them was near my house so off i headed home.
Found the cache on side of 103 about 5 miles from home, FTF with a coin as FTF prize. Now have to wait for the cache to publish so i can log it.
Had a nice visit with Chris & Rhonda before we left Hantsport. What a great day.

Nice Event Cache

Tonight I took a spin to Greenwood to attend H4FF's event cache, GC2JDGE - Happy Holidays!

Diane, Tony, Kelsey and Jennifer had a great turnout for their event - 21 caching families including enough individuals so that it was SRO! (I haven't heard the count of how many individuals were in attendance.)

It was nice to see several new cachers as well as our pals rick o and
Miss LaLa77. It was also good to see Mark & Keatha (Momma and Papa Bear of team 3-Bearss) and Allan (Falach-fead) all the way from Ottawa! I could go on and on listing attendees, but the online logs are there for the browsing!

And every caching family - all 21 - came away with a prize! Now that is good planning!

Statistics

I don't usually pay too much attention to my caching stats exept for knowing what my approximate current find number is. But today I was looking at my numbers and I have logged more finds this year than I have in all other previous years combined! A total of 742 finds year-to-date and 573 total in all previous years! Wow!

2TF

Well, I saw this cache, GC2J7YR - Golf View, when it was published last night and I was actually up shortly after 7:00 AM with every intention to go out early to try and grab it. But everywhere I turned in the house I found more stuff that I had to do. So I did it. I arrived at the cache 55 minutes after Chris. Nice spot up in there, although all I could hear was traffic from Highway 101!

I got a good going over kind of look from a guy arriving home to the house just east of the cache site. I waited in the Jeep, playing with my iPod, in case he wanted to come over and talk but he didn't approach me.

From here I took a scoot over to Gaspereaux to look for GC2G5PX -Nate & Kay's 1st Cache. I know where it is but I still can't see it. I had several others loaded to my GPSr, but I headed home to tackle my honey-do list.

Ftf

Hey this cache comes up this am and I have a lot to do before Dr appointment but load GPS first
I was sure that Ken would beat me but No ...

Wed PM

Got my list done in time to hit the trail around 2:00. When i arrived at the first new cache i quickly realized i was 1/2 hour behind another cacher "RobDel". Further up the trail i ran across a cache he hadn't found, probably going to try again on the way out so i got FTF on this one. Continued along and met RobDel coming toward me. Due to problems with GC.com site Rob didn't have all the caches on his GPSr. I had them all so he turned around and we did the last 5 new caches together. We got co-FTF on the last 5 on the trail. We had a nice hike together and a good chat and he suggested we do the next caches on the trail together. That makes 48 new caches on this trail in the last couple of weeks and i have been FTF on about half of them. Getting in some pretty good hikes thanks to Blackrattle.

Wed

14 new caches published this morning, but GC.com is still down and can't get the co-rds. My honey-do list is pretty long today anyway, they will have to wait for another day.

Monday

Not good caching weather today by the sounds of the forcast, good day to stay inside and catch up on things. Blackrattle put out 14 more caches on the same trail yesterday, not published yet though.

Yes

I was at Boston pizza at my niece birthday party when your blog came in
Thanks and I loved the story of the cache container. Gotta run so talk later

Sent from my Galaxy phone

Sunday morning

I checked the logs on the other 3 caches on the trail that published yesterday and discovered they hadn't been found yet. So off I went again, Vickie is very understanding. I knew of a hauling road that cut the trail right by these caches so i didn't have to walk far this time. Had all three FTF's in short time and headed home.
This is a little funny twist to the day, when i got home and emptied my pockets what should be there but the last cache container i had found. I put it in my pocket so i could take a pic to post with my log and didn't want to show the container. Dave and me headed back out after dinner and fortunately i could park about 200 feet from the cache location. As i approached i realized there were 2 people off to the side of the trail looking for the cache, i told them they wouldn't find it and held up the container to show them. We all had a good laugh after i told my story, the cachers were Crash & Dash. Got there just in time, a good caching weekend.

Good start to the weekend

Hi guys here goes my first attempt at this.
Blackrattles are creating quite a power trail on the RTR near Liverpool, 34 caches on the trail so far and i am FTF on 17 of those. Click on any of my caches from this weekend and then open up the map on the page to see the extent of the trail so far and they are just getting started.
I left the house Sat morning before daylight and was sitting at the trail head eating a muffin and drinking my coffee and waiting for the sky to lighten. There were 9 new caches published for this trail the night before and i got FTF on all 9 before 9:AM. It was about a 2.5 mile hike altogether and it was pretty cold when i started. After I got home 3 more caches popped up on the same trail but i didn't have time to go back and get them.

We are set to go

Okay Geo Buddies ... this blog is set to go ... I believe that you will need a Google account if u do not already have one so it is not hard to do.
As the "Seeker" is only cacher active today we await his first blog .
