Well, I spent four or five hours out caching with Claire of Acadian Cachers today. She and Barry are going through a bit of a rough time right now with Barry's Dad being hospitalized and she wanted some company on the hunt today.
Claire was only seven short of 500 when we left her house around noon.
We started out at a cache near Kingston which a friend of hers has placed recently. We got to GZ and searched and searched and searched. There were all kinds of great places to hide a cache but no cache to be found. We called it and headed on to our intended destination, Bridgetown and surrounding area. (Claire contacted the CO late this afternoon after I dropped her back home and apparently the cache is right at the side of the road - and likely now covered by snow plowed off the road.)
So, we get to Bridgetown and I decide to gas up in case Claire gets a call to head to the hospital. Such a call never came, but I wanted to be prepared. We found our first cache at the ESSO station by the Highway 101 exit at around 1:00 PM. We had some snow issues on some of the R2T trails, I was surprised how much snow there was in some areas in the woods down that way.
Anyway, we got Claire her 500th at GC1B6TK. In fact, I just booted a couple of pics of her at the cache site to my log - and then we did two more. Then she says "Would you be angry if I said I want to stop now?" Of course not! So we headed for home about 3:30 PM.
Claire is now at 502 and we had an enjoyable few hours together. I hope I managed to spread a little sunshine for her this afternoon!
